- Bear Den (YiKu)
B/F 12 Yumin Lu, North Madian Flyover, North 3rd Ring Rd, 8225-0548, email. Beijing's only gay bar for bears and their admirers. Difficult to find as the entrance is actually via what looks like an air-conditioning vent in the parking area of a tall building near the intersection. Look for a free-standing, raised and tiny glass box with a green neon sign that says "bar". Yes, it does rather seem like entering Dr Who's telephone booth. Once inside, descend the stairs down to the main floor. The club is on two levels. 1/F has booth and bar seating, with a small stage for karaoke, performance and even a bit of dancing if things get going. 2/F is balcony seating for overspill on Fri and Sat nights when the club is busiest. Mixture of young, mature, muscle and chubs. Friendly and some English spoken. 北京市朝阳区马甸桥北裕民路12号中国科技会展中心院内元辰鑫酒店大门东侧20米 Utopia Member Discount
- Club Top (mixed)
33 Sanlitun, Tongli Studio (Beside Bar Blu), Chaoyang District, 6413-1019. This is not an exclusive gay bar but it's gay-friendly. Cheap drinks and cool music from the DJ. The club sponsors gay nights/events on occasion.
- Dushi Qingdao (Love Island in the City)
Liu Lichang, HePingmen, XuanWu District, 8316-1284. Difficult to find. Have your taxi driver call first. Local crowd is a mix of young, mature, and chubs. Drag shows every weekend.
- G&L Secret Garden (mixed)
6 Sanlitun South St (east side), Chaoyang District, 6507-4890. Right between Pink Loft and Golden Barn (see restaurants below). A trendy, friendly new G&L-oriented club: the decor is screaming -- from the froofy staff uniforms to the huge blow-ups of gay photographer and filmmaker James Bidgood, to the name itself -- but the staff seem charmingly clueless. Funky and vivid interior. Popular with women.
- Promen
Lan Club, 4/F LG Towers (across from the silk market). The Yong'Anli subway station is in the basement.
Comments from Utopians:
"Very nice ambience with elegant and decadent decor. Drinks are way too expensive, but on Thu only from 9-11pm you get two-for-one. My advice: get there by 9pm." -- labello27, Mar 25, 2008
- Zeta (mixed)
2/F Hilton Hotel. Upscale crowd.
Comments from Utopians:
"I found Thu not to be a gay night but it's well worth a visit just for a look at the great decor - it's very impressive. All taxi drivers know the name Hilton in English, so no problem getting here. Also, the helpful door staff can translate your next venue, organise and tell the taxi driver your destination - handy if you speak no Chinese!
This all makes Zeta a great place to start a night out." -- garybucks, Jun 10, 2008
"It's definitely happening on Thu night. The drinks are expensive (Y$50 for a beer and Y$80+ for a cocktail). Only the 'haves' in Beijing can afford this. Nice decor, good ambiance, gorgeous crowd, beautiful life." -- , Feb 4, 2008

- Destination
7 Gongti Xi Lu (near the Workers' Stadium). If you are coming from other parts of Beijing and using the subway, get off at Dong Si Shi Tiao Station, choose the exit that takes you to Gong Ren Ti Yu Chang (Workers' Stadium), walk along Gong Ti Bei Lu, you should go past the Asia Hotel, then the indoor stadium (Ti Yu GUAN), turn right immediately into Gong Ti Xi Lu, and walk for a bit, Destination will be on your right next to a Thai restaurant. Cool sound and lighting system and dance floor. Welcome addition to Beijing's gay scene.
Comments from Utopians:
"Destination and its staff have come a long way. I must give it to them! The staff have been re-trained, given new uniforms and there's a new and super friendly attitude from security. Management on-site is plain awesome. It has added a 2nd floor and is renovating the main floor. I feel at home there. This is the place to be any day of the week." -- labello27, Jul 9, 2008

- Club Jingyuan KTV
133-6689-1433, email. Close to Ba Jiao Subway Station. Popular gay singing club with many handsome waiters. The first gay KTV in west Beijing.
